E46 suspension shopping advice

I'm still on my original suspension and I want to upgrade the overall performance when I replace it.

Was looking at H&R RSS Club Sport Coil Overs Kits vs Stage 3 Suspension Kits (Bilstein Sports on Eibach performance springs) on pelicanparts.

My question is how do I test drive these two suspensions to see if I like them?

What did you do or how would I get to test them before I commit the $$$?

What I did: a crazy lot of research.
I ended up with h&r sport springs for sport suspension and koni yellows.
While I wish it was stiffer, I like it for a dd setup.
There's not really anyway to test what the options are unless you can find local members with said options willing to let you drive their car. I'd let you drive mine if you were local.
Just ask around and do a lot if research to see how people compare certain setups to stock.

do track, very aggressive street driver, like to change the stance to with in fractions of an inch, like very low drops....coilovers
like to get a couple of notches performance above OEM spots suspension with a lower stance and a bit stiffer.....lowering springs with Koni or belstein
P.S. If your coming from non-sports you'll get a great drop and performance from lowering spring and shocks.
I had ST coilovers
Currently running Vogtlands with OEM sports, soon going for Koni yellows

I'm running H&R race springs and Bilstein sport dampers. It's a bit harsh for daily driving, but when I pull through a tight freeway junction at speed, it's somehow worth it. I've been considering switching to eibach sportline but I feel like that's probably gonna be more of the same.

To answer your questions, you can try to see if you can drive a few cars with different suspension set ups, but the best thing to do is, as others have said, is simply a ton of research. Read reviews, threads, ask around, etc. Keep your 'ear to the streets' as they say.

Also, it helps to consider what type of driving your car sees. Do you autocross, track, daily drive, etc.
