Tire stretch Good or bad idea??
I jst bought a set or rims and it looks a lil funny with a fitted tire, plus i like the sretch look. As of right now my tires are 225/40/18, So i want to know what size tire should i get to give it that look. i dnt want it to stretch too much!! jst like a mild stretch . Any tire sizes come to mind? plz let me know and pictures if you have them, Thanks guys!

You could go 205. Don't go less or it could be dangerous.

Bad idea and remember that when you stretch tires the sidewall becomes thinner making the tire and rim prone to damage.

have been running streched tyres all summer long and i havn't had any sort of problems. Only thing is that car will be a little bit bouncier since you'll have to go with a little more air in the tyres that normal just to be sure they stay in place!
a question, are you going to stretch just because you think it look good? Most people stretch to get clearance between the tyres and fenders when they lower their car. Stretched tyres on a car with original hight doesn't look very good (according to me + don't know if your car is lowered or not) anyway here's a pic of my stretch. Running 205/40 on 17x9" rims ![]() |

![]() as soon as you've looked up the width of the rims it will be quite easy for you to descide which dimensions you want for your tires! just take a look at http://tyrestretch.com/ and you probably wont have any problems |

i've been running stretched tires on my last 2 sets of wheels with no problems. Stretched tires actually increase the rigidity of the sidewalls and that is why drift cars use them. The only real safety concern is the tire debeading itself in a sharp turn at high speeds. Just dont drive like a dik and you'll be fine.

Oh and be careful who you take it to for the tire installation. Not everyone does it right. I had an issue with air leaking through the sidewalls and i had to fill them up with air every few days. i had to try a couple of different places before i found a tire shop that knew what they were doing.
