My Ride: BMW 2004 325i
Unhappy 2004 325i Xenon bulb replace

Hi all,
Been searching on this site for few days on a vid or pic DIY for a bulb replace.

The closest I found is:
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=609544

But this does not match my car.
The passenger side light is busted. I had to remove the windshield tank to even get the cover off. Reading the site suggested that I swap my bulb into the working one to see if it is the bulb. However, the driver side's cover is quite flushed with the body, I believe the only way to reach there is by removing the headlight unit, which seems to be quite difficult (for my skill set). It took me few days of trying to even get the windshield tank off, and I spilled all the fluid. I read somewhere that you don't need to do that, but in order to move it, I had to unhook few electrical, and also unclip a metal part, which I was unable to clip it back in. I'm going to try filling it with windshield fluid and see if it still works, or maybe I should wait till I resolve my headlight issue.

So, I was going to bring the bulb home and take pics to see if it is really busted, but the igniter goes into the bulb unit and I didn't think leaving the ignitor hanging in the car would be a good idea, so I put the bulb back in and assembled things back.

My ask is, does anyone know if the driver side xenon bulb can be swaped without removing the headlight itself?

Or is the best thing to order the bulbs from khaolty and see if replacing it resolves the issue.

Any one seen any DIY which fits my car? It has two metal clips that holds the bulb in place.

Thanks!
Shah

the removal of the headlight is as easy as removing the blinker housing, remove the trim in from of the headlight, removin 4 bolts and pulling the headlight towards the front. This should not take more than 15 minutes even if you don't have any diy experience.

you don't have to really remove the headlight to change bulbs, just follow the procedure on the thread you posted and that'll do it..

I have an 04 324i also and was able to change bulbs without removing headlight. It's very tight to get cover off but it will come off

It never hurts to have an extra set of D2S bulbs anyways in the trunk.

To remove the headlights, you can look at our install guide on our web site.
