Scared of hernia injuries
My dad had a hernia when I was young and it scares me to continue to work out. I'm 17 and I want to continue in the gym but thinking of getting a hernia and all the "easy" ways to get one scares me and the. I stop. Can I get some real information and tips on this?

Example. This week we had graded sit ups in high school. The next day in my upper right abdominal side I started aching and when I'm sure it's because sit ups, I make myself believe I have a hernia.

If you get a hernia from doing situps I'll pay for your medical expenses.

Dude dont worry. Go hard and keep form right and you should be good. Injuries happen so don't let it scare you into working out less than you're capable of

So how do I know how much is enough? My buddies father got one from coaching for 14 years, how do you get a hernia for that?! Just doesn't make sense.

If you're just starting working out don't go too heavy too fast. Work on technique first and the weight will come. Injuries will come and go its life bro. Do what you're comfortable with, push yourself and then you'll see how much is enough. Honestly a hernia should be the least of your worries I've never heard of any of my young friends having a hernia. Last edited by chriscf17; 10-19-2012 at 01:04 AM. |

dude you sound like you're trolling. If a hernia happens to a guy for no reason why are you stressing about it? You sound like a fuucking woman worrying about things she can't control. Thanks for making me not miss my ex even more.

Worst case scenario, even if you do get one, its a ****ing hernia. Not a big deal at all. I'd much rather have hernia surgery than a host of other common sports related injuries like achilles, ACL, tommy john, etc.

You should also never go through an intersection because you might get hit by a car.

You will be fine. It's not hereditary. Just learn proper form from a young age and lift, eat, sleep, repeat.

My doctor told me to not exercise until I get in better shape.
I told him to not send me the bill until I pay him. |
