buying gas from craigslist
So i have 0 on my range meter because every gas station is sold out or not operating. Here in NY gas is very hard to come by and places that have gas run out quick, with lines that are 4hours or more. I waited 8 hours only to end up with no gas. I am desperate to buy some gas on craigslist for $14 per gallon (rip off I know) but the price is not my concern. Can i trust whats in there. I proposed buying 5 gallons of gas and the seller of gas to put one gallon in his tank. He agreed to that. I need a little gas to get over to NJ (pay tolls $20) to buy some gas over there.
Would you do it? bad idea?

I feel bad for you son. I got 99 problems but buying gas ain't one.
If you're desperate, you're desperate. Just do it.

Imagine if we had a national disaster or event that lasted for a long time
Are YOU prepared with supplies to LIVE on your own for at least 1-3 months? If not.... Hope this is a wake up call to all

We've got around 1,200 lbs of protein on the hoof, 2,000 lbs of kiln dried firewood, 10 gallons of beer + ingredients for 20 more gallons of beer, cider and mead. Not exactly a balanced diet, but we'd have a heck of a bbq.

Glad everything worked out OP...I hope things over there get back to normal asap.
![]() ![]() ![]() Can my family come to your place if Bend goes to hell (I couldn't go too long without beef)? I can bring about 2 to 3 weeks of dry/canned goods, plenty of booze, small arms, and a ping pong table...

The urban world is always on the verge of riots, chaos, and destruction when faced with such situations. If utilities cease to exist or we run out of supplies, there will be grave consequences. |

The same people who make fun of me for hoarding supplies are the same people who will come crying to my house. For $2000 in supplies and $2000 in cash, you can prepare your family for just about anything within reason. You can be better prepared than 90% for $500 in supplies (+ gun and ammo.) People wear $5000 watches but dont have a gallon of water at home. I just don't get it. Maybe its a Florida hurricane thing for me, I dunno. I will stay paranoid...and alive.

The people that have prepared are MUCH better prepared for defense than you. And the people that are ready to take have much less to lose.

I ended up buying from a guy on craigslist. Worked out good, got gas in my tank now I gotta trek out to Fort Lee to buy some more gas. I was debating if going to CT would be better. I would save on GWB tolls.
