Wheel and Tire sizing help for 2JZ E46 sedan with M3 rear end!

I am trying to figure out a good setup that will work on my 323i sedan (soon to be 2JZ powered). I have already purchased the M3 complete drop out rear end. I believe the M3 has a different offset than the non-M? I would like to fit at least some 275's in the back but would prefer some 315s if possible?

Using the M3 rear end how will the OEM sized E46 M3 wheels fit? I have read the thread were the guy converts his sedan to a M3 coupe using M3 rear fenders and am contemplating doing this if I cant fit some tires with some decent size. Any recommendations?

275s on a sedan will be hard to fit, not saying it cant be done but anything bigger good luck lol... you will have to shave/roll and pull your fenders just to fit 275s, this is what I had to do on a coupe before I went widebody to fit 275s on a 18x9 now I have 335s on a 18x12

True, well I guess offset/camber is another thing, mine were et 28 with spacer and -2 camber, whats your offset/camber? also what tires? my star specs were pretty damn wide for 275s

I am running about -2 camber and Nexen N3000 tires. I will take my wheel off and get the et numbers.

Trip,
what'd you do to fender wise to get to fit. I'm on 18x9.5 with offset 38 running 255 Michelin Pilot Super Sports and rub ever so little. about -2 camber out back, but I woud like to go a bit bigger without rubbing

Im on 18*9.5 ET45 with m3 rear, running 1degrees of camber on 265 tires with no rubbing

Correct.

OP, I've experienced a TON more traction with an 8.4" wide tire than a 275 on a 9.5" wheel.

I currently have a 275 (secretly) mounted on the back of my 330i....and it definitely needs some body work to fit properly. But if you are willing to do a bit of cutting...it's feasible.

One of the nice things about a wider tire is that you don't need to run as high tire pressures to hold up the sidewall...

I am shooting for around 600whp with a T61 (T4 BB). I just purchased a Racelogic Traction Control system that should help out a lot.

So how much difference will the M3 rear end make? Do I need to get a certain offset wheel in the rear or any E46 sedan wheel? I would like a set of 17s or 18s. I do not want to camber in my wheels to get them to fit the rear, that defeats the purpose.

Sweturbo: which wheels did you go with? ANy pics of your setup? Stock rear fenders?

323tom: Can you tell me more about your setup and do you have pics? Did you do OEM M3 metal fenders in the rear or fiberglass?

Pic of 315 T1R vs 335 R888s. Had to do some major rolling and cutting of plastics to fit on rear of the 996t!

I ran 265s back on my 330i and they rubbed slightly on big dips. I was lowered on Eibachs. 275s are def possible but it all depends to wheel offset, camber and tire itself. Some have round edges while some have square.
