Stretched winter wheels?
I'm getting some winter wheels put on my spare set of 68's I picked just for this very reason. The guy at the tire shop said I could put 225's on the wider rim. Is this safe?

You'll be fine. Not safe is putting a 225 on a 10 inch width wheel.

While were on the topic I'll ask as well. I have an 03 M3 with stock 18's, can a 225 be stretched on the rear tires? in my door jam it says 225 45 R17 for winters.

Defiantly will never be doing that! Thanks btw. Will be picking the wheels up today. Weather here in Seattle may start to turn. It was snowing this morning. Don't feel like getting caught with my pants down in summers.

Well if the stock 18's are 8.5inch wide then yea you should be able to do it.
I don't think you can stick 17inch rubber on an 18inch wheel if that's what you mean. But hey I could be wrong. |

Thats perfect, Yeah 17" rubber won't fit on an 18" rim. As long as I can get an 18" 255 45 over the stock rear wheels then its perfect. I did find it interesting that they say M+S tire size is 17" yet our stock wheels are 18".
