left turn signal bulb keeps blowing?

so ok yeah, like the title says, this is my issue. I'm guessing an electrical short somewhere? no check engine lights, no codes no nothing. Obviously the dash board is showing a blown light inside the vehicle, but thats all. if i put in a new bulb, it instantly pops the second a signal is sent to it. anyone have any prior experience to something like this?

Check your wiring and the socket itself for any corrosion, etc.

You can disconnect the sockets and swap it with the other side, see if the problem follows.
They can be replaced if they are faulty.

You may have a ground wiring fault. This is common to E46s and BMW has even issued a recall. The problem is, the grounding is not sufficient, which overheats and degrades the electrical connector over time. Ultimately the connection goes bad and gives you a "bulb out" warning on the dashboard.

Unplug the connector to the light housing and inspect for corrosion or melting of the connector. If you see any, bring it to the dealer for a free fix. If you like to DIY, there are plenty of guides out there. I followed this one: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1076114

First check your voltage on the connector. You should verify 12v on the center pin, then verify continuity to ground on outside.

If it verifies correct, change it with the right one to see if it follows the lens itself.

I had a left turn signal bulb keep going out. It appears that it wasnot making a good connection at the center pin because it arced to the point of wearing the bulb point down so no contact was made. The bulb I removed was made in China.

You might also not be blowing the light as you think. Are you sure the filament is broken?

If not, you can try cleaning the socket and pulling up on the bottom tab with needle nosed pliers/hemostats...very gently...to more tightly hold the bulb in the socket. Those tabs get tired!

I love covering up the problem with some LED bulbs. They always seems to do the trick.
