Philips 81522 vs 85122+

Hey so I'm doing some research on which DS2 bulb I want.
I'm seeing mixed answers all vet the Internet.
On a thread here, I see that 81522+ are supposed to shift to 5k over time.

Yet this forum: http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/show...bout-HID-bulbs.
Say that 81522+ NEVER shift..

Looking for a definitive answer.. Which one DOES shift? I'd like to get my hands on one of those.

I see some newer bimmers driving around (3 series) and their lights look beautiful. Bright white with a hint of blue/purple to them.
I doubt they're aftermarket as every BMW I see, has this color light.
I'd love to get OEM as that's the color I love, I think.

85122+ bulbs are designed to replace one bulb to match the other shifted bulb.

85122 is the one that color shifts to about 4800k..

85122+ stays at 4300k.

85122 is what you want.

Thanks. The previous post goes against what you say, 100%. Lol

So ill repeat it so I know I'm right..
81522 is the one that'll shift to a blueis color, and the 81522+ will never shift.?

If so, ill be grabbing some 81522's if I can get my hands on them.
And TRS DS2 projectors to replace my mini h1's.

Lol not you. The guy ahead of you.
Said the + was designed to replace the shifted 81522.
But that doesn't make sense considering a shifted 81522 would be 4800.. Not 4300, which the + is.

Hey, does anyone know where the hell I can buy a pair of the 81522 bulbs?
I see places selling 81522+, but I don't want the plus. I want the ones that fade to 5k.

Ok, here's the real deal.

Phillips HID Bulbs
85122 - original HID bulbs from Phillips. The color temp was 4100-4200k.
85122+ - improved HID bulbs. Color temp 4300k
85122c1 - Extreme blue/white light- 4,000 K (I think their color temp is a misprint as that temp is closer to yellow than blue)
85122cm - color temp 5000k (color matched)
85122cv - replaces the "cm" (crystal vision)
85122cx- same as "cv"
85122wx - color temp 6000k (ultinon)

NOTE: Phillips removed the "+" from the bulbs. Now all XENON D2 HID bulbs are 85122 unless it's a specialty bulb. ie., 85122wx
I've also seen a few 85122c1 without the "c1" identifier printed on them.

Buy your bulbs from a reliable source. There is a knock-off company that produces extremely close replicas of the phillips / osram bulbs.

Those cbis are nice but not worth the money IMO.
I bought a pair to test and after 50hrs, I wasn't satisfied so I sold it and went back to 122+

122wx is crap.

I'd get a pair of the 122cm when it's time for new bulbs.

Also email Trs if a product is not on their website.

Really? Hmm not sure if I wanna get them anymore.. I'll do more research.
Also, I did email them, about wanting the 81522 that shifts, not the + that's constant. Awaiting a reply.

Well, not manymore lumens for $100 more.. THAT isn't worth the extra jump in price, but I really liked the color and the brightness. Personally, I would get the cbi's.

Is there a big difference between the philips and cbi's? maybe not. but I love the 5k color, and the light output.
