Sin City Greeting! pics
Hey gang, just wanted to drop a note and introduce myself. Just bought a 2 owner 2000 323i sedan. The original owner was a school teacher that had it from new till about 2 years ago. She had her dad take the dealer for all the repairs and maint. Then 2 years ago the car was bought by an acquaintance of mine who is an e46 M3 owner. Eventually this will be my daughter's first car, but for the next year I get to play with it. This is my first Bimmer but I'm not new to Euro cars. I've been in the VW/Audi world for years. The car is in excellent shape overall but it does need a little lovin to be in tip top shape.
Original paint and it shines like new
Was serviced and maint. by the dealer untill 2 years ago
Interior is nice and clean with only the slightest bit of wear on the drivers bolster.
Engine purrs like a kitten
Auto trans shifts like butter and no issues with reverse gear
New tie rods
New washer tank
New fan clutch
Desert car, lived in Vegas its whole life so absolutely no rust anywhere.
Power steering leak
Rear end dances over bumps (Rear trailing arm busings?)
Sunroof shade issue
Car was curbed at speed so the front pass suspension needs attention, the wheel is cambered in. (Thinking the spindle got bent when he jumped the curb or maybe bent the strut) Will have to take a look at that tomorrow.
Pass side wheels and tires are toast. (Chunks taken out when curbed.
Tint is bubbling.
Service Engine light came on while driving it home after buying.
All in all its a great car. I really can't enjoy the BMW driving experience since the RTAB are shot and its squirmy as hell and the balance issue with the wheel and tire chunks give it a bad shake between 50-60mph. But once I roll my sleeves up and get my hands dirty this thing will be sweet!
Ok enough talk, here's a few quick celly pics.
PO bumped into his trailer hitch. Not major but it will bug the crap out of me.
Rear tire with the damage from the curbing...
Front wheel and tire damage...causing it to shimmy pretty bad at 50-60mph only. Smooth at all other speeds. And it caused the wheel to camber in.
Anyways guys, looking forward to digging in to this project, and no doubt I'll be asking stupid questions and seeking advice from all you gurus.
