Possible to install HK amp with regular stock stereo?

Is it possible to only install the amp (part: 65136946987), and have it run with the regular speaker system (non HK)?

Has anyone done this?

Thanks.

I cannot confirm this (as I haven't looked it up and properly gone over the connections) but IIRC, the connectors on both factory amps are different, so you would need a whole new harness to the amp...

I guess the first question is if he even has the factory amp. I believe they use the same connection but the wiring would be different for sure.

Have a look here: http://www.bmw-planet.com/diagrams/r.../e46/index.htm

body > radio to check for your stereo information and the differences between h/k, regular amped and non amped.

At least until someone chimes in who has actually looked into this or done it before...

The amps are going to be different. There's no doubt about that. The hk system has more speakers as well... I will do a quick look at the wiring and confirm this for the OP today.

As I suspected, it will need to be completely rewired. More info here. Good luck. Let us know if you decide to do it. I'll offer any info I can to a fellow diy'er.

I upgraded all my speakers and amp from hifi to hk because my amp died and I got a fantastic deal on the bundle. The sound is much better. I have a sedan and its plug and play. All I don't have is the subwoofers because I already have an aftermarket sub and amp.
