A few pictures of me on Tail Of The Dragon today

I was driving my dad's car. E60 528xi. Can't wait to come back in May to drive it in my Jetta. I wanna see how much today was me and how much was the car.

lol, then go to a track or find a local auto-x. A road won't tell you jack sh!t about your abilities, and I've been on the dragon before.

Disagree. The dragon will test not only your knowledge of your vehicle, but it will also test your limit, and your balls/limit ratio, something a track can't teach you. I am FAR more exuberant on an auto-x than I am on the dragon. There is one guy in our group that no one, regardless of car can touch. Sure, there are faster cars than an s2000 on the dragon, but no one has the balls like him to drive at 11/10ths on the road. This guy talked A LOT of sh!t, and even after he crashed he was talking smack...almost like "dude I almost had you" when he claimed he can keep up with Bill (the guy Im referring to in my post.)

Here is a video of him running the dragon. Dragon starts at 13:40

The exhaust sounds like sh!t because one of the muffler's internals blew out.

That makes sense. Auto-x is slower and the risk are lower. However, on a track you can crash in spectacular fashion. I don't see how that isn't testing your "balls/limit ratio."

On a track yes, you can crash and pretty badly, but add another element...this is a public road. There are leaves, gravel, cracks, etc on this road. We had one guy fly off a cliff a few years back because there was some loose gravel on a corner. I agree, a track is exciting, but I've never had a more white knuckle drive than driving 8/10s on the dragon...I can't imagine 10/10nths.

Yea, the cop pulled over some guys (in a civic and something else) that were doing mini drifts and constantly crossing the yellow lines. The cops generally leave our s2000 convoy alone. We've been coming there for over 10 years as a group, and are respectful of the road, bring a heap of money to the area, so they don't really bother us. They go after the tards that are trying to keep up, and causing dangerous situations in the process.

That's nice of the cops but seems so foreign to me, given that he was flying around the corner. I guess they're used to this type of traffic

He did had his radar out, but we later found out he went after the civic.

As for the driving...only 3 people in the history of our drive down there have been able to sit in his passenger seat for the entire run and not empty their stomachs.

Thats the thing about the dragon, there is no reset button....one wrong move, and your car is toast.

I believe I was there when the yellow car went off. I can't see the video at work but if this the "Bill" that I think you are talking about, then yes, that guy is an amazing driver. Killboy himself said at the 2011 Wake the Dragon that Bill was probably the fastest non local that he has seen/ridden with and he is probably in the top 5 drivers he's ridden with on the road..period.

it's the truth. You can't know your limits until you surpass them, and you just can't do that safely on a public road
