I need new tires: Should I go Sumitomo HTR Z III or NT 555 Extreme Performance

Anyone here have any experience with both and which would you recommend over the other and why?

I have been buying tires a long time and the one's I have never ever had in problems with in Germany or here in the US is Michelin. I know everyone else makes all the outrageous claims of handling and performance, but overall Michelin will cost more and will be your best choice.

Sumis, that's what I'm planning to get once the Pilot Sports wear out later this year.

Yeah i'm trying to stay away from Michelins, they're too expensive and don't last long. I'm leaning more towarda Sumis right now. Heard the Nittos can be noisy after a while.

Just got some Sumis for my '01 M3. So far, very happy with them. Grip and handling seem quite good, though I haven't really pushed them too hard yet, and are tomb-like quiet compared to the well worn Toyo T1-Ss I replaced.

I put the HTRZIII tires on my 1995 M3 and I love them. Outstanding tire and a great price.

I had Nitto NT 555's. The 18/40/245's were fine. The 18/35/265's were horrid. Had 2 sets and each of the rears suffered from catastrophic separation. Large (half-peach) sized bubbles formed in the interior sidewalls of both tires TWICE within 10K miles. I gave up and went to PS2's after that.

The smaller size was fine.

I got the Sumis during spring last year. Great Tire, low noise and handles great....most of all excellent price [paid US$90 per tire]

PS - I graduated to these from Yokohamas all-season
