yeah i hear you on that but:

1. Our cars arnt cheap, ie lets say mine goes for 24k, I should demand 24k cash?
2. If its local and he trys to pull this scam then how will I find him? What can I do, go get my car back?
3. Would insurance cover this at all?
4. What good is a bill of sale if you're gonna lie on it, I've heard of dealers doing that lowered price to save on tax, but not private party.

You're making this difficult than it actually is... Nothing wrong dealing with a cashier's check. All you need to do is stall the buyer for another week or so after the check clears and before sending the title to him.

Done.

OR don't lie on the bill of sale. A bank loan for 55k is legit, its how anyone without 55k in cash can still buy a car. The guy had to get the loan with a real name and real address and real credit information so its not like the owner couldn't sue him for the money. The real issue in this made up story is that he signed over the title as a gift and therefore couldn't prove he was ever owed money in the first place.

Goes both ways. Few people are willing to give a stranger cash, and walk away without a title. I know I wouldn't.

Have the check mailed to you and don't transfer goods until the check clears.

Even ebay sellers know this: "Item will be held 7-10 days until check clears."

Certified funds or not. If a guy is car shopping and can't wait another week and a half then just walk away.

But some checks look real, and have been stolen, replicated, and you cannot tell a difference. Then guess who pays when you put it in the bank? You.

Deal in cash and please end this thread. If you do not want to deal in cash...you do not get my car, it is as easy as that.

Fuk banks, who invented them? Useless sh!t, that's all I can say. I always deal with cash, with real money, not some numbers in a computer.
