DIY -- Coupe B-Pillar Panel removal
After much searching I could not find a how to remove B-pillar for dummies (me) so I decided to write one up with lots of pictures. Any suggestions are welcome to make this more understandable if I don't explain it quite the right way. I have numbered the pictures 1-18 for easy identification. Picture 1 has the tools that I used.
Tools: T-20 Torx T-50 Torx Flathead screw driver wire cutters Step 1: Start out by placing your hand in underneath the seat bottom and lift up. The is 2 clips holding the seat bottom in place, one on each side of the seat. Refer to pictures 2-5 if you have any problems. Step 2: Take your T-20 Torx and use it to remove the 2 screws in the arm rest. This has to be done so you can pull out the panel out just enough to undo the 2 clips holding the B-pillar cover in place. Refer to picture 6 if you have any problems. Step 3: Open your rear window and pull the window molding/rubber up. This is done so it'll be easier to push the panel into place when putting everything back together. Refer to pictures 7 and 8 if you have any questions. Step 4: Pull out the door molding just a little bit so you can get your fingers/hand in behind the panel and pull it out. Refer to pictures 9-11 if you have any questions. Step 5: You should now see the 2 clips that hold the B-pillar into place. Take a screw driver or wire cutters to pry up on the clips. Once those are out the B-pillar should just slide straight down. Refer to pictures 12-15 if you have any questions. Step 6: Again take your flat head screw driver and place it in between the carpet and the little black plastic piece as illustrated on picture 17 and pry outward. It should just pop right out. Take your T-50 Torx and undo the bolt. Lift up on metal bar once bolt is out and slide the seat belt out. Refer to pictures 16-18 if you have any questions. At this point repeat Steps 1-6 for the other side. Any questions or suggestions? Thanks Chuck Last edited by Poorboyz; 07-18-2008 at 11:07 PM. |

Don't you need to reinforce the underside before removing the B-Pillar. I realize that coupes still have the hard top but in terms of body flex it seems that without the B pillar body flex would occur more easily

I'm removing only the B-pillar panel on the inside to replace the worn out cloth that's peeling back on the panels. My A, B and C pillars are doing this. |
