Got my letter today

Glad to see someone is fighting this. Though I never had a problem with it, it seems pretty common.

would a bodykit and missing muffler be considered "Modified for racing"?

My god... that video is pretty compelling to cause a class action lawsuit against BMW.
I heard the percentage of BMW's E46's having this issue is around 1%... I don't know if that's true but that subframe may of caused my accident I had two years ago when my driver rear side gave out.

My Ride: 2008 335xi LOADED
Haven't had any problems yet but I just replaced worn out stock struts and shocks with bilsteins so I guess I'm screwed if anything does happen. I only say this because I'm sure they're gonna D.Q. as many people as possible to save a buck or two.

Yikes! After seeing that video it makes me wonder what could they possibly do to fix it?

Wow that video is scary...

I got my car lowered w/ H&R Springs & a 19" rims years ago, therefore will not benefit from this then...

That video is a trip i have not heard the noise but i would get my car inspected to be sure. I still think BMW should reinforce everyones cars. Was this due to corrosion to the unibody or something.

Where exactly should I look for the crack? Is it near the shock?

Hmm, I own an 05 325 sport, I've heard a clunking noise from mid/rear whenever I shift hard or push the clutch while backing up fast up a hill (driveway). Always thought it was normal. Troubling. Going to have BMW check it out.

Also, BMW replaced my control arm bushings two times in the past 8 months of having the car. They said they had no idea, perhaps too much "hard breaking". Could this be related?

My Ride: 94 325i full m3 swap
so if i wanted to take my car into the dealership to get checked out, should i bring the letter BMW sent me in order to back up my case that the cost of repairs should be covered by BMW?

I doubt that this is because of your subframe, my 325 has over 60k, and I am still on factory bushings.

This wont help you until the case is settled now.
BMW has claimed to not be a fault, so they are now longer doing freebies to fix.

Nice video man, your subframe is totally separated. Good luck.

My 2000 323ci. Has the identical cracks as pictured in the video. I was wondering if anyone here has had this fixed before. I was wondering what they do to fix? i.e. replacing the chasis or if if they weld a bracket or something.
