19x9 all around is fine, all e46 sedans have the same body except for minor details here and there

235/35/19 is the widest you can go up front

255/35/19 is the widest you can go in the rear, but he'll probably need to roll his fenders

235/35/19 is the largest tire the front of the sedan fenders will fit without significant modifications.

Actually, I meant to type in 265/30/19 for the rears... these will fit... but he might have to roll his fenders if he drops the car...

But then... who wants to drive a car with 19s that's not lowered... unless your friend really digs the 4x4 action....

255 should be fine...

For future reference, you can try www.tirerack.com for tire fitments... they actually recomend a 235/35/19 on the 19x9 and a 245/35/19 on the 19x9... just a little added note... but the 255 rear should be fine.

The 318 will have difficulties in handling the 19" wheels. If your friend's 318 is a pre-2002 model, the engine only has 115bhp, and with the heavy 19" wheels, the 318 will be slow as hell....You can defintely feel the weight of the wheels.

I just put on a set of 18" ACS wheel on my 2002 318Ci (2.0L engine with 143bhp) and I really feel how heavy the wheels are. And my fuel consumption has increased alot. Used to be able to trave around 430km per full tank, after the new wheels swap, I can only go 370km per tank.

Just my .02

Hmm. Drive hard? I usually drive around 650-700 per tank. Earlier this summer me and my girlfriend went for a holliday. Then we drove around 900km on one tank. This was with the 19s on.

OMG....I never know a 318 can drive such a long distance. Did you do lots of highway driving? We don't have much highway here, all I do is lots of stop and go city traffic.....I don't even have a chance to drive it hard, maybe that's the reason.
