Repairing tires

Is it really worth it to repair a tire? I got a nail in one tire I ended up getting a new one. I still have the old tire, was thinking of getting it patched as a spare, but I am not sure I would feel safe driving on it. What is the concensus?

If the puncture is less than 3/8" and is well inside the tread area, I say get it patched and use it as a spare. Make sure it is both plugged and patched...this will require having the tire dismounted from the rim.

What he said. Run screaming from any place that offers a $10 patch/plug job. The tire has to be dismounted to pe properly repaired then it has to be rebalanced after mounting again. Run screaming from any place that offers a cheap patch/plug job. A good tire place will charge you $30 to $40 to do it right.
