I would definitely take the E36 M3 over a Trans Am or LS1.
Its just got such a unique and different personality compared to either one of those cars. The T/A and LS1 cars are mainly about brute force which will undoubtedly end up disappointing you after being used to driving an Evo. The E36 M3 is about balance and efficiency, and in the right hands can school cars that are seen as "way faster". It has an impatience...almost an urgency to it, as if it wants to be driven and you're the one holding it up. In excellent running shape it can become a musical instrument. They really have a way of making that 240 bhp go a very long way. |

Can't decide between the simple ACS 1 piece wing or subtly done EVO wing with exposed CF. I'm sort of leaning towards the ACS cause its a bit more elegant and simple and thats what i'm going for. Classy and fast debadged sleeper mode. I wan't my sh1t to like something James Bond would roll up in to grab a martini.

Here's my 1995:
![]() Fun little car. I think the S2000 I had prior to this was still the better driving car. But this one is much more bearable to drive everyday.

people should not post modded cars b/c OP is obviously on a low budget and those highly modified m3s probably has enough aftermarket parts and labor of which, costs double and maybe even triple the car cost...

you can pick up e36 m3 for like 6-7gs now...
a set of great rims/tires will cost you 5gs, a turbo 10gs installed by a shop, ... coilovers 2gs installed/corner balanced, you are already looking at 17gs on top of the 6-7000 dollar initial investment on the car for 24gs total, you can get an awesome condition e46 m3 thats stock and beautiful.

yeah i know, but why not just get a newer car and leave it stock...
tuner cars can only go to low class places, if you pull up to neiman marcus valet service in a done up e36 m3 they'd think you are f*cking crazy... if you pull up to neiman marcus valet in a stock e46 m3 thats in pristine condition, then its legit parking next to AMGs, Maseratis that usually park in front of neimans

![]() Yeah, the valet at Neiman's should definitely be considered when purchasing an E36 M3

Personally, I always thought the sedan had better proportions than the coupe. I'd really like to own an AW 1999 M3 sedan.
Do you guys feel that even high mileage (100k+) E36 M3 are a 'safe buy? Assuming due diligence is applied to reasearching the car? |
