are e36 m3's notorious for subframe failure as well. i wouldn't mind getting 1 as a toy/track car.

yeah, if your gonna track it then it is highly recommended you reinforce the subframe. Just pick up the reinforcement kit from turnermotorsports.

Respectfully I disagree with the above statement.

The early e36 3 series suffered issues with subframe failure, however the ///M models had beefed up subframe mounting points from the factory.

Quote from BimmerWorld

"The rear chassis at the point the rear subframe attaches is a failure point on heavily tracked E36 cars. All M3s have reinforcement plates welded in from the factory to solve this problem. But if you track your non-M E36, chances are at some point you will need to repair this area. Our reinforcement plates are a factory fit and can easily be installed when subframe bushings are added. Welding required."

ah i misread his post, im at work and was typing in a hurry haha.

But, on that point, read through these two threads:

http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=266861

http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=269234

There are people who have reported both, their subframe and suspension points tearing out on tracked cars. This specific case is a buddy of mine's 95 M3.

If I didn't need a truck at the time I would still have my 1997 328i 5spd fun and practical. I see it once in awhile, it did not go to a good home

Some of these posts are funny. Get what you want OP, an e36 m3 will be a nice addition to your stable.
