It should just stumble a bit on long hard right turns, not die completely unless you had like no gas in the tank. If it actually shut off because of this the check valve in the pump assy. is probably bad and backflowed all of your gas in the line.

Check and see if codes were generated, but that doesn't really sound like a fuel pump issue to me, more electrics....

Autozone and Advance read for free... granted it's generic and not top-of-the-line BMW reader, but at least it will give you a general idea.

Not true, codes can be generated, and then go away (i.e. emissions sensors that fail, but then work again). If your car died like that, SOMETHING might have been recorded by the engine.

No, if the CEL didnt come on a ODB2 reader WILL NOT read sh1t.
the ODB2 is meant for diagnostic stuff related to emission stuff, so a BMW code wont show on a OBD2 scanner if the CEL is not on.

ECU's usually store codes for at least 40 starts, but he pulled the battery cable, which resets any stored codes.

edit, TV died today, time for HDTV, Plasma, and much bigger...

Arent errors stored in the DME? i dont think the loss of power erases the codes. ive had CEL and disconnected and the CEL was still there.

I agree. I do not get sick. I get headaches from sudden temperature changes. My body is very sensitive to barometric pressure. I like it either very hot or very cold. I like brunette or blond...I like vanilla or chocolate. I may sound like a black or white guy, but I do not make the dating a latino transition before I get with a black girl...I just go right for it....

...I dunno how I got on to this subject.

Oh yeah. It is the weather!

I had a Neon that did that to me back before I joined the military. I was going 65 and it just died on me. The lights, dash, engine, everything. We unplugged the battery, then re-plugged it and attempted to jump start it - it actually worked, and the car ran long enough for me to get home. We tried everything; changed the spark plugs, coil pack, checked the fuel filter and it still wouldn't run again. Had it towed to the shop and turned out I had fried the computer and had a bad EGR valve.

Completely different car, but still bizarre nonetheless.

Neons are garbage to begin with. Absolute shiat. ANYway...
