SES EML ABS lights turned on all at once
While driving (making a turn, not fast), my SES, EML and ABS lights came on all at once and the car lost power dramatically. It idles okay, but acceleration is so poor that it is barely drivable. I read the codes and get the following:
P1189 – Fuel Control (Bank 2 Sensor 1) P1510 – Idle Speed Control Valve Stuck P1622 – Map Cooling Thermostat Control Circuit Electrical I have been having a few to-be-fixed problems for a while (coolant leak [but I keep it topped off], thermostat starting to go, slow power steering fluid leak), but I wouldn’t think they are related to this. My temperature guage reads normal. Any ideas why all these lights would come on simultaneously? I am wondering if something different than what the codes show is causing all of the problems and lights, as well as causing the codes to come up. |

This happened on the way to work, so with finally some time to search the forum, it appears that the Idle Speed Control Valve probably caused my EML and ABS lights to come on, as well as my poor power. These lights went out and the power came back upon starting the car again later. Hopefully, it will hold for a few more trips to work until I have time for the ICV cleaning. For those who don’t already know, there is a detailed DIY thread for the ICV over on bimmerforums.com.
I’ll start with the ICV and thermostat replacement, and see if any codes left. |
