BMW M3 GTR 2002 Engine.

Hi everyone im new to this forum and im interested in the 2002 ALMS M3 GTR Engine that BMW used in their GTR car.

as far as i know its a 4.0L V8 Short stroke dry sump engine.
is there anywhere more information on this engine, is there any way of getting this engine?

Also i would like to know the model number of that engine, the street version used the same engine with some minor modifications yet the block and the heads stayed the same.-not sure about that.

Thanks allot

This engine is just incredible, its interesting if the M-Division Destroyed those engines that they made for the cars. I Would be so happy to fit one in my baby.

Not a lot of people know this, but those engines were also used is offshore power boat racing. (Factory supported team)

So if those engines were used in powerboat engines, the block and the heads are basicly the same...i think.

Is there any way of getting this engine?

One interesting aspect. The HP/L Rating is 125/L. Pretty damn good. Its better than hondas s2000 egnine.

from one i only 10 m3 gtr were sold to the public after the 2001 season for 218k.E46 GTR came to life on February 2001, powered by a 4000 cc V8 producing 444 bhp (331 kW; 450 PS) (race version—street version produced 380 bhp (283 kW; 385 PS)).so it’s going to be extremly dificult to find that engine especially here since they were sold in europe.
