3.07 Xi diff, same as others?

I need a new diff in my 330xi (3.07)
It seems that its more common to find the 3.07 from other models around, but the part number is different, ie:

33107500785 (3.07 (what i have now) fitted to:
E46 330xi Saloon, USA
E46 330xi Saloon, Europe
E46 330xi Touring, Europe

33107518807 (3.07) fitted to:
E46 323Ci Coupé, USA
E46 323i Saloon, USA
E46 320td Compact, Europe
E46 320Cd Coupé, Europe
E46 320d Touring, Europe
E46 320d Saloon, Europe
E46 323Ci Coupé, Europe
E46 323i Saloon, Europe
E46 328Ci Coupé, Europe
E46 328i Touring, Europe
E46 328i Saloon, Europe

Does anyone know the difference? Is it a more heavy duty unit? Are they compatible?

The 330 diff has different input (CV joint vs U-Joint) and output flanges as compared to the rest of the non-m models. The output flanges are easy to change out but the input can be done if you know what you are doing. So, you could use a diff out of a ZHP 330 as they are a 3.07. I have a feeling they are not easy to find as the ZHP is not a real common car.

You mean theres a CV joint inside the diff at the input? sounds strange to me...

From what I've read the entire rear axle assembly is the same on the rwd and awd e46. That would lead me to believe that the rear diffs are interchangeable. Output flanges I'd imagine can be swapped if need be.

It certainly looks the same, except the flanges are different.
mrshelley claiming there is a CV joint in the diff, i dont believe this.

Sorry for my bad english. Here's how I should have written it:

The 330 diff has a different input flange (CV joint vs U-Joint) and output flanges.

The whole rear axle from a 4wd e46 will fit into a 2wd 330 e46 and vice versa. It just all comes down to getting the correct ratio to match the front diff ratio. The only e46 cars sold here in the states that have a 3.07 and a input flange that accepts a CV joint, are the ZHP and 330Xi. The E85 chassis has the same diff as a e46. The 3.0 Z4 has a 3.07 but the input flange is designed to accept a U-Joint.

Ok, but still puzzled as to which model has a CV joint.
My Xi has U-J input.

Probably the same reason why there are two different output flanges, axles and rear ABS sensors on a 330. Depends on the build date.
