First off, by anti-open border, I am not suggesting (nor is any educated individual), that we build a 50 foot wall dude. Rather, financially penalize companies caught employing illegals to the point that it's not worth the risk and reconsider prop 187. Get corporate america, construction, and restaurants to do the work for us. If opportunities aren't here, they won't stay and, in leaving, will lighten the burden on our schools, hospitals, and, as mentioned, will free up jobs for others.

As for people looking down on the jobs they are working, that's a societally constructed problem. And, if illegals weren't able to take those jobs at very low wages, and no legal citizen would take the job, the companies would have to raise wages for those jobs and they would no longer be viewed as unacceptable. Then we have unemployment go down, less unemployment checks being sent out, and everyone's happy.
That's what I was getting at bro. I'm at work though and have been posting in between working so I didn't have time to make my statement as eloquent as possible, and I was irritated at the blatant ignorance and racism in this thread, but what I was trying to say is just that, fix things here and make it so that it's not as desirable or attaintable for an illegal immigrant (no matter their origin) to benefit from the aforementioned programs/aid. I was suggesting for some of the people in here to get angry at the people that allow it to happen rather than the people benefiting, themselves--and realize that it's not the people coming in here making things worse, but that the problem lies within our own system.

The problem is not the Illegals that are over here. The problem is the employer's hiring this Illegals under the table. The employer's hire them them because they pay them less money and don't pay taxes or benefits. I say lets put the punisnhment and fine so high that these employer's would not even think about hiring a illegal. Then the illegals will go home or do it legally. because no one will hire them. The laws are on the books, they just need to be enforced.

Maybe Government should lower the minimum wages so that employers start to employ real citizen.

im sure there are legal citizens that are working the system too but i would think that if the government is giving free benefits to people there would be some more intense checks before they do.....my argument is not with sending illegal immigrants back to wherever they came from , which im not for , but my problem is with the government supporting these illegals that are in the country with benefits that should be reserved for US citizens or if its the case even legal residents

No, I'm Jose.

I'm kinda neutral on this issue. I don't agree with either the conservative or the liberal approach. While forcing employers to hire only legal joe dudes by imposing strict regulations and high fines does mostly solve the illegal workers problem, It just creates another problem.

Here is a possible situation that could arise from forcing employers to pay for a legal unemployed joe
No unemployed legal Joe (lets assume he is an engineer) will want to flip burgers at minimum wage for a living. To compensate for this, employers will have to raise wages. Okay. Problem fixed. This, however, creates yet another problem. With the economy as tight as it is, the (lets assume jackindabox) cannot afford to pay each burger-flipper 10x as much as they used to. So in turn, the price of a jumbo jack will skyrocket, not to mention that dudes would flee from their difficult important jobs to easier jobs because the pay difference wouldnt be very much, because jack is gonna have to pay $$$$$$$$ so the engineer will get off of his arse and take such a job)

So, now that jackindabox wants customers to pay $24.95 for the exact same $4 jumbo jack combo, demand for jumbo jacks will be virtually non-existent. What does this mean? Jackindabox will go broke and the legal Joe will be unemployed yet again, not to mention the rest of the people that jackindabox employed. This could happen to many businesses, and unemployment rates will soar even higher.

So I just stick with a "just let it be" mentality and hope that the issue will not affect me in the future

Thoughts?

Doesn't the employer also have to pay part of the taxes/insurances etc for their employee? They do over here, and that's also a reason why they prefer illegal workers for "easy jobs". But that's another problem...

Another major problem is that even IF an American citizen takes a low wage job, including all deductibles, would he be able to support his family and all? If you compare Joe Legal's legal and insurance expenses to Jose Illegal's wage, I don't see this being possible. So it's not only that American's are too snobby to take low wage jobs, but they also can't support themselves with that kind of job.

The only real problem is that the illegal workers aren't paying taxes, but use the benefits that legal unemployed people get.
