I would not leave the car out in the sun when its wet, the beeds of water act like magnifying glass and burn little round dots into the wax or clear coat...

There are better leather cleaners around then BMW, Zaino or even Autoglym and Lexol is very good as well.

Are you willing to pay the price though???

BobZ
Hardly going to give the car a full detail whilst on my lunch break its really just a mid week wash to tide me over til i do the big weekend clean.

I know what you mean though i must get some drying cloths for when i do my weekend clean now that its sunny i can see the droplets. Or the lazy way is to drive really fast down Waverley Rd and it gets all the drips off (the Glenny ppl will know the massive hill i mean )

Price isn't a problem if i was a cheapskate i'd get my products from the $2 shop not BMW.

I bit the bullet and took it down to the public car wash. I think i've pushed my neighbours to the limit with illegal washing this year. Thing that ticked me off though was the big no buckets no sponges sign, like hell i will use their chundery old broom on my 40 grand car or whatever they're worth now. You just can't win, you do it in the backyard and get greasies from neighbours or you rock up at the wash with bucket and sponge and still get greasies.

I asked the local attendant once about this, i never use that sponge for anything. he said to me, look, its your car, the sponge is there for people who want a quick wash, there's an attendant between the hours of like 9-4pm so you can bucket wash outside of those hours

so when i want to spend a quiet 30mins washing, ill go before 8am or after 6pm and no one says a word...

It's funny that quick wash bollocks I can wash/dry my car faster than the dbags washing with the brooms, the only problem for them is that i only spend 2 dollars apposed to around 10

The car does not look clean after their dirty recycled water though thats the problem with those places. I've never seen an attendant at the one on Blackburn Rd opposite Mt Wav Maccas.

you can't go past the poorboy's range for bang-for-ur-buck detailing stuff. I use the poorboy's black hole, sealant and natty's blue paste wax. I may try p21s once i run out of wax.

still have tons of meguiars stuff in the shed which I use for the mrs car

Out of the retail brands I would rate Autoglym much higher then Megs...

^ Thanks BobZ. I looked for Autoglym and did not find it so went with the next known available brand.

I tried some Meguiars on the weekend and wasn't very impressed with the clean. The finish was ok, livened up the leather somewhat but I could still notice the dirt underneath the shine.

Maybe I need a brush? Or maybe some lessons in leather care would probably be better!

Use a longish brisle large brush to clean the leather then apply the conditioner and leather should not be shiney either after the conditioner, just look hydrated

Thanks again. I'll give it a proper go when I get some good stuff from one of the retailers the other fellows have mentioned.
