Strange noise in steering. Help please

Hi I have a 01 320d and when I lock my steering wheel left while its moving I get a noise its like the noise of a cv joint gone on a front wheel drive car I replaced my drop links and was hanging on all the bushings but could'nt figure out what the problem was. It seems strange to me that I only have a noise when I'm turning left and is fine when I'm turning right. Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be

I had a similar sounding problem with my 02 M3. Turned out to be sand/dirt that had gotten into the bearing at the top of the strut. Only made the noise turning in one direction. I fixed it by partially removing the strut, taking out the bearing assy and then cleaned, lubricated and reinstalled. Noise gone. There's a DIY for strut replacement that was very helpful. Good luck!

Good Point

Thats a good point too I'll check out both remove the strut and clean it if that dosen't solve it I'll replace the wheel bearing and if I'm still haing a problem I may replace the strut also hopefully that should solve it.
