out for a ride today. a rider i have never ridden with joined me and some friends...
we were on an old backroad, there's lots of gravel. he approached a slight curve going way to fast and panicked. locked up both tires and hit the ground. got thrown off the bike. and slid a couple hundred feet. there were many factors in the accident; speed, experience, tires, attitude, location of part of the road he was riding on... he was speeding, trying to keep up with more experienced riders who know these backroads, he hit his front break hard in gravel, his front tire was bald, he had a very squid-like attitude , and tire skid marks show he was pretty much on the shoulder (where gravel always is on pretty much any highway). ![]() ![]() ![]() just wanted to share. ride at your own pace. be careful. it's just crazy. this **** happened right in front of me. kinda in awe....

About a month after I bought it and the night I put on my Yoshimura pipe. Not too many mods for now, this spring I'm getting the shocks valved and new springs, 520 conversion probably stock gearing, also going to paint it. |

Fellow bikers across the pond, where are some good online retailers for one piece race leathers who will ship to England ? Alpine star/Dainese or anything decent, needs to be able to fit a fat bastid though

As for riding suits, the problem with Italian suits like A-Stars and Dainese, is that they seem to be made for small Italians. You usually have to go up one or two sizes larger to fit. Make sure you try out the suits from a local dealer first, when you find the right suit and size, find it online. You can save yourself sometimes half the cost from a local dealer.

I have the same bike, will post some pics but I went ahead and powder coated all the silver bits black and it REALLY cleaned up the bike alot, I haven't done anything with the pipe yet. Hopefuly next summer I go Mivv and a heatwrapped pipe up to it and completely get rid of the silver. Nice riding bike tho.

I agree with you about the depreciation, and I'd be more than willing to opt for a used Duc. The problem is that there aren't any available in my area. I've checked CycleTrader daily, and no local dealers had any used 848's.

The 848 is very hard to find used right now, you will find 3 times more 1098s than 848s on the used bike market. You may have no choice to buy it new, but do yourself a favor and test ride a used 1098 at the dealership before you buy a new 848, it maybe closer and less intimidating that you think.
