BMW plans changes for M3 for Le Mans

Looks like BMW want to enter the M3 for the 24 hours of Le Mans. The rule makers want changes made to the car. I wonder what changes? Don't tell me this is Porsche complaining again like back in 2001 when the M3 won almost every race in ALMS and had to pull out because of Porsche crying

Very interesting that they're allowed to use double-wishbone suspension on the LM spec M3. That honestly doesn't seem right to me. I think that all of these companies should start being required to have their race cars more closely resemble their street variants.

I was watching DTM the other day and saw the hood fly off of one of the Audi A4s and it looked like a f'ing open wheel racecar underneath with almost zero street-A4 left. Until manufacturers intend on using this technology on the street then I just don't see the point.

I just wish it could go back to the days of 80's/90's GT spec DTM/LM cars.

Agreed. I still love the racing venue, but not much OE on these cars any longer. Testbed, prototyping, and development all flows to the street eventually, but it's hard to say "Porsche won the manufacturer championship".
An example, that I'll still be rooting for, is the M5 V8 powered carbon fiber M6bodied Riley chassis from Turner Motorsport this year.
