no. to be honest. i kinda died out on the idea of fitting it in there. it's going to take some more grinding which i don't want to do. maybe later on i'll pick up the project again.

Hmm so something i noticed the last time i looked at the diff (actually a few weeks ago). If i grind more into the sides to make it fit, i'm going to slowly cut into the inside of the output shaft hole. I don't know how to explain it any better, but if anyone has ever pulled their diff apart the part where the bearing rest will be cut into a little. Do you guys think that will effect anything?

Sorry, i'm a noob at differentials. it's my first differential i've taken apart.

And also, i probably shouldn't grind down the ring gear to help it fit right? as that will throw off the balance?

I wouldn't grind the gear, now. Post a pic of what you are talking about on the grinding.

Actually you could see it in this pic.

See how if i grind more, it'll start to go into the bearing seat? do you guys think that will be a problem?

Possibly. The guy that you got this idea from, did he have any pictures of his grinding?

This is a really cool thread! It looks like the LSD center section ring gear mounting flange is larger than the open, could you just machine that down or does it hit on the ring gear itself? Seems like taking a little off the ring gear wouldn't be a huge deal.

Keeping the rotating components balanced might be a bit of a problem though.
