I'm doing AA software flash, a little better than the shark IMHO.

Do you recall any details on how they differ? Thanks

I would do a reflash for a raised revlimiter if nothing else. You could hold a gear longer, and every redline upshift would land you in the meat of your powerband.

I've hit the 135 MPH limiter one about about a dozen occasions but it's not too important. I am content with cruising at only 130 mph.

The 6500 redline comes too soon IMHO. This engine is definately capable of 7 grand and maybe a hair more. Hitting 7k just extends your power band that much more.

to all the guys who want the extended rev range let me ask you this. i mean i might be wrong.

Does you car make peak horsepower at 7K? yes when you upshift it means your higher in your powerband. but if your interested in being in your powerband a diff is a better solution than a shark. a 3.46 willl keep you in your range but will cost your fuel economy.

also i do not know about the rev limiter. i am no angle, my car accelerate pretty easily till about 125 but at 135 i am on the red line anyway. plus the climb from 125 to 135 is pretty slow. i mean if i have a speed limiter at 135 i would have no way of knowing it, since i am on the redline in 5th gear. so i guess the shark would give you 500 extra rpm in 5th gear as well, so in fact removing the "top speed" limiter..... but i have a feeling this is very unhealthy for the engine.

Well the "Shark" is a generic tune for most cars and come with some standard upgrades. I can send my ECU to AA with a list of my mods, and they will custom tune it to what I have done. Raise the idle to 850-900 rpms for my light flywheel, raise rpm limiter, top speed, fly by wire throttle response, plus all the fuel and timing maps.

Just for the software flash it is $300. But I am paying $500 cause I am getting the CEL delete for post O2 sensors that will no doubt come on with my header install.

FYI. fallow the link in my sig and you can eliminate your header CEL light with about $5 rather than paying $200 for a DME flash for it. hell even if you were lazy and spent like 40-60 on sims you would still not be spending 200 bucks extra....

I don't have the shark on my 330i, and the M3 is definately chipped though I don't know if its shark or sprint... If you ask how I know it's because the M3 is supposed to be limited at 155 but I've had it at 170 before... That said it is my personal opinion that the shark is pretty much a waste of money-even though it does indeed do what they advertise it to-my reasoning is; for a couple of hundred more, or the same price depending on where you go, you can get a custom tune and remapping of your air/fuel/spark maps for your car and your mods not just the series that it is. Thats just my .02 though. MVRK about the 7k redline and the 3.46 diff, the 3.46 diff is definately a lot better mod than a shark, but you really need a 7k rev limiter to fully realize the 3.46 swap since in the 0-60 times, the quickness that you gained would be lost by having to make 2-3 shift. By raising to 7k you can stay in 2nd gear for 0-60 in the same way you can with your stock diff, also it does indeed put you back down in best part of your powerband for the upshift. That aside with 106k on my car I would be nervous about routinely getting it to 7k like you said, since the valvetrain is really only rated to 6800-think zhp since their cams are different, but the rest of the valvetrain is the same it stands to reason that your lifters, springs, and retainers are also capable of the 6800rpms. On a fresher engine I would deffinately have no qualms what so ever about it though... Also I do believe that the car is indeed physically capable of turning 7-7250 with the stock hydraulic lifters, but like I said its just a matter of are willing to do it.

if your into modding cars for high power, your driving the wrong car... get an evo or an sti, that you can chip, dip, flip, or what ever the hell you want and get a lot more horsepower than what you would get from your Bim...

cheers
