is tire fine after rim is bent?

Is it possible that the tire is OK after hitting a massive pothole and totaling the rim? I looked at it but there were no marks on the tire at all, the rim is demolished, the piece almost chipped off. I hit a pothole almost as big as a football field (NYC sucks) I was so mad. I wish i took a pic to put up.

I did the same thing yesterday. Bent two front rims but only one tire busted a steel belt. You can see this by a bubble or disfigurement on the side wall. This was just my experience though. Someone more experienced than I in tire design would have to say whether or not there can be invisible damage on yours.

Chances are that you did do damage to the sidewall belting. The only way to be sure is to inflate the tire to check for any sidewall expansion where the pot hole hit the rim. Baring that, dismount the tire and check the inside wall. Who knows, maybe you did get luckey & escaped tire damage. Chas.

If you broke a wheel, I would suggest changing the tire.
