Do the racing lessons and then write a paper on what you learned.

"What are the most common misperceptions regarding safe driving techniques among today's drivers?"

After you take the course, ask 5 random friends and family members questions about how would they respond to different driving situations to get them to say dumb stuff . . then write it up. Like: "What would you do if were slowing down as you approached a sharp turn and the car started skidding?"

Google up annual traffic death stats to make it sound well researched.

A paper like that you could research and write in 4 hours easy without doing any real research.

The economics thing has nothing to do with driving school and is a really, really difficult question.

My senior project was an "independent study project" to build a motorcycle. My buddy and I spent a week strapping a chainsaw engine on my bmx bike and futzing around in my garage - then we went to the beach every day for 3 weeks. Everyone else was stuck doing internships or working on a theater project for the month.
