Exhaust Mod Idea
First off, this is a "muffler delete-related question," but I promise it's not what's been asked 10,000 times. I haven't done the delete mod yet, but have watched as many videos and listened to as many sound clips as I can find. While I do like the muffler delete mod for quite a few reasons, the sound is still a bit too harsh for me. That said, I still have the stock rear muffler and 2nd resonator from my 325i and have been wondering about incorporating either or both of them in my soon-to-be-modded exhaust setup. These are my questions:
1. Has anyone installed a stock resonator in place of the stock rear muffler? 2. If I gutted the stock 325 muffler, it would end up being a large resonator, correct? |

I was curious if you kept both resonators and added a 3rd when you did a muffler delete what it would sound like myself. Has anyone tried this, I can't find anything under search for this setup.
The gutting the muffler sounds like it would be an echo chamber.... whether good or bad i don't know! Anyone done or heard someones car that has tried either of these set-ups? |

A guy tried chopping up the insides of his muffler... piss p00rness resulted.. don't do that.
If you want to do a more subtle muffler delete, remove muffler, put glasspacks in it's place, and weld tips on the end

And I've considered the whole glasspacks thing, but it's hard to get a good idea of what it sounds like in real life just by listening to youtube videos. Some sound great, and some sound TERRIBLE! Hell, some stock exhausts even sound sweet on youtube!!! |
