I need some help with figuring this out. Ive tried searching up and down.
I have BMW style 29, 16x7 et20, currently they still have the stock tires from an E39 5-series (225/55/16). Right now they rub in the front and rear. If i reduce the size to the std e46 tire size (205/55/16) would this minimize or stop rubbing on all corners? The car is a 99 328i Sedan. THANKS! Heres a pic with them on it right now.

Yes, going to a 205/55 will definitely help out a lot. The sidewall height will decrease and lower the chances of rubbing during compression. Though the offset is still off for an E46, you can get away with it...

What width would make the sidewall flush with a 16x7 rim?

Those 5 series wheel are also not hub centric to your car, so you may get some vibration problems at highway speeds.
