Swapping out non-M DSC for M ZCP DSC

Is it possible? Anybody know what is involved?

^^^ Much less intrusive. I find that DSC in the non-M cars is way too intrusive for on track use (even with an LSD) and I'm only asking because when I take people for rides (instructors and other students) I have to keep DSC on per local clubs rules. Not having a roll cage and having an extremely dangerous local track (almost zero run-off) generally keeps myself more inclined to keep DSC on regardless of whether I'm solo or +1 anyways.

Need to look at the inputs/outputs of both DSC control units. And hoping that their control variables have the same specs. I might need to dig out the tech docs. Otherwise, BMWTIS.com might help.

Does anyone know if the M3's DSC works the same way where you press the DSC button once to disable traction control and then you can also hold it down 5 seconds to disable stability control?

I know that the ZCP is different in that you can press the button on the steering wheel to tone everything down, but I'm wondering if anybody can describe exactly how both M3's more specifically function.

No, the M3's DSC is off or on.

The ZCP's M-Track mode allows slightly (and I mean VERY slightly) more wheelspin and a little more sliding of the car before getting involved. Honestly, the wheelspin is almost the same as full DSC.

I've read in the past of people trying to put the ZCP DSC system in non-ZCP cars (specifically M3s, not other BMWs)... it didn't work for them either.

Its a waste of time and money to even try it. You'll learn more, faster, with DSC completely off.

I drive with DSC off whenever I'm by myself and whenever there isn't a lot of water on track, but if I have passengers and the policy is to have DSC on, I'm not turning it off.

Hey, I'm at a track event now with PCA, and there was a guy here with a e46 m3 and one of the first thing's he asked me was about my DSC and if it kicks in way too much when its on cause that is what he found was the issue in his M. I would say dont bother its not worth trying to do and to just turn it off and work on developing your right foot precision more. Use your toe's!

I am still wondering would the DSC of a M3 work on a non-M period?

Would such retrofit work properly, I asked my local dealer and said every unit was coded for each car.

So you would require some mod, with a GT-1 or other computer. I have midly modded engine and DSC does not work, the engine makes the wheels loose traction all the time. Even a LSD does not help. So I drive with DSC off most of the time.

It intervenes too much, and wondering if anybody has done the swap.
