Official Mountain bike Thread!

i want a mountain bike so bad, but i have nowhere to put it, it'll get stolen from the condo garage so quick

how are the 29ers? I've never been on one.

I just have a fixed-back Novara bike from REI but I love it. I think I'm going to try and make a trials bike this summer (proper positioning of brackets and such) and start to do that with a friend. Training with trials helps a lot in the woods.

Awesome place to work....Work hard, play hard type atmosphere. tons of cool people to work with and the celebrity every once and a while. the pay is not on par with the rest of the industry but they make it up in company benefits.

I've been riding them for a few years, I like the advantage of bigger wheels when rolling over stuff, technical climbs, flat sections as well as downhills

I understand that they don't necessarily work for everyone, hard to say unless you actually try em

Its for a research paper im doing on bamboo as a building material. Bike is not that pretty but it it works haha.

If you have a place you can clean it up at there are a lot of ways that you can get creative with storing it in your apartment. I keep mine inside, behind the couch. Hauling it up the stairs after a long ride sucks though.

Here is mine... Stumpjumper FSR upgraded XTR front and rear deraileurs and XTR crankset, time pedals... not much else changed.

Not including stuff like shipping for the bamboo it cost around 250-300 but we could have built it cheaper if he had some experience. Oh and alot of the materials we got were used in testing the shear, tensile, and compressive strength of the joints we put together.

The cost really doesn't matter as long as it can handle everything you want it to. Its more about the riding than the bike.

Right now I don't ride more than twice a week because of school, usually around an hour and a half per ride. Once Im out of school and back at home where I have easier access to more trails and paths I ride much more often, almost every day. Sometimes I will ride for the majority of the day starting at sunup, thats not very often though, maybe once a month. Riding is the only way I can really get away and have time to myself.

sometimes 5 days a week, sometimes twice a month....just depends on what all I have going on

I used to do between 15-17 hrs a week a few years ago when I was racing.....not anymore

while I've had a ton of nice bikes, I sometimes long for the simplicity of my first mtb, a POS motobecane.....as lance famously said "it's not about the bike"

very nice sneaky, I would break that with one pedal stroke though...lol
