and with the savings, i can pick up an entry level road bike too but they don't look like they can support my 250 lbs ass

Only a helmet and gloves for me as I mostly ride XC. I use a Fox Flux helmet and Fox Sidewinder gloves.

Just did 20 km again today. Damn my but is hurting from the 40 km yesterday.Cant wait until i get paid so i can get some padded shorts lol

Is something wrong if my wrists/pads on my handst get really tired/sore when im riding? I think im putting to much weight on the handlebar

do they make padded shorts that aren't tights? i would hate to wear those, i always make fun of my dad for wearing them lol

Yeah you can get baggy shorts, otherwise just by the slim ones and wear normal shorts thats what im gonna do.

Hmm dunno around 1.5 hour didnt go fast at all. Just a nice sunday trip by the water getting tanned and burning kcal at the same time Btw saw 3 different model photoshootings here in downtown. Of course i had to ride right through them all to piss of the photographers and look alpha in front of the models.

Besides i had to since they were on the side walk and you couldnt get past them unless you wanna deal with miami car drivers and you should know the answer to that.

They do make combo shorts that have the padded tight ones inside and a normal looking shorts on the outside. In different styles too.

damn, the "official mountain bike thread" became a recommendation thread for ara. Ara, create your own thread man.

if you are buying a hardtail, you shouldn't be spending more than like $750. If anything, you can upgrade the bike as you get better. It is much more fun that way anyway.

components are about the same level so no big difference....although I'm curious as to why you're not looking at their mid-priced bikes

I personally wouldn't buy that Motobecane for 1k unless I was looking to part it out....

you'll do just fine with either the Fantom or Fantom Pro 29er

that mamba is also sold out. but for the retail price of that 1000$ i'm buying "a better component" bike from bikes direct.

i'll end up with a windsor. waiting on an email.

yeah definitely sounds like it....sometimes that's caused by the height of your saddle in relation to the handle bars (if saddle is too high, you slouch forward onto handle bars)................ but in looking at the pictures of your bike, this doesn't look to be the case

Next thing I'd suggest is to make sure your seat is completely level, having a saddle that is tilted even slightly forward can cause you to place all your weight on the handlebars, thus the pain(not to mention, make your bike feel twitchy in handling)

I'd use a Plumb Level or anything that works similar to check first.

If it isn't level, you should be able to adjust it using an allen wrench from your multi-tool

Also, make a conscious effort when riding not to rest on the handle bars........check out the Brian Lopes book I suggested earlier for tips on proper posture on the bike
