My new Highline Catback/ebay headers set-up....Question

Hey guys!

Just thought I would post to ask all you experts out there. I just had these parts installed, and I am getting a really raspy (almost tin-cany) sound from about 3K to 3.5K

I have a 323i.

I haven't heard it come from a highline setup with headers before. Is it just because it's a 323 and not a 325/330? Or is something potentially wrong?

I will post some vids when I can find a video camera to borrow. but for now I just wanna get your guys' input...thanks for any help!

Look into a X pipe I believe. Gets rid of rasp.

I don't think you can avoid rasp with headers and no cats! I just installed the Magnaflow cat back and still have rasp!

I guess I might have to get some resonators to add some back-pressure. Hopefully that will take care of the rasp.

I saw some videos on youtube with the same setup and no rasp.

Do you think because these are both 330's is why they have no rasp?

Second vid has cool air intake and underdrive pullys. Not sure if that would affect the sound though.

^ I hear plenty of rasp in those clips!! Videos don't always pick up the rasp very well and I think the rasp would be much more defined in person on both those clips, but it's there!!

Keep us posted as to what you try.

You should get two sets of AR resonators.

I have headers + Highline Tuning full piping setup (w/ x-pipe) + TSE 3 muffler = LOUD w/ crazy rasp

The guy in the first vid has a set on his car. Checked 'em out, they're only $74 each. So I'm probably going to get those soon.

Thats the first report I've heard of the magnaflow catback NOT killing rasp... thats disappointing. Maybe Borla is the only good option for those of us with catless headers.

Ive seen some great videos of headers + magnaflow. especially from technik headers.

I e-mailed Highline tuning and a guy said that 2" inlet-outlet was the max. Would you be able to squeeze out 2.5"?

Highline Tubing is 2" on my axle back muffler. I just order Aero Res from BimmerBrakes. Let see if it will be mailed out today or Monday
