Oil Drain Door P/N

Im looking for the P/N for the Oil Drain Door, number 3 in the picture, doesnt show a P/N for my 330ci with a 9/2002 build date. Ive got the reinforcement plate but no trap door and RealOEM doesnt show a P/N for the door. Im guessing the past owner or dealer forgot to put it back on after changing the oil previously?

Yeah, at the first oil change the techs like to "forget" to install it. Most owners have no idea it's missing until they stert to do their own changes. I need to get one too.

Most later model BMW's do not have this drain door as a standard item.

I think the Xi package and Diesels have it. If you search either Xi or Diesel models you should find the part number. As I recall it is about $15.

Also if you search the site carefully you will see folks have posted the part number.

Edit: If RealOEM does not show the actual part number, but the item is pictured, it usually means your car did not have this part as standard equipment!

It was around $9 when I got mine. I thought that there was 1 type only, apparently there are 2 types, one small and one large door. Unfortunately I got the small plastic door which left 2" gap

that part number would be correct if its the same cover for an m3.

when i type it in ETK it shows that fits all m3's. i've never been able to find that part in the catalog for any other e46

I have the part number on my other computer, I'll let you know later when I get home. But I did find it on this site when I was looking for it, in one of the threads, so you can search and you'll find it. And you do need that little circlip with a little white washer and a screw too.

This is what you need (assuming that facelift sedans and coupes use the same part).

51 61 7 199 687 Cover $5.95
07 14 6 981 767 C-Clip Nut $1.95

Picture can be seen here - http://photos.linquist.net/gallery/6...20602806_BYqcN

If anyone needs the M3 part (which is circular), I have one I can donate.

My 2003 330Ci build date 02/2003, originally had a cover, it didn't after a dealer oil change.
I had the parts department order one, part number - 51718197932 - the diagram shows up to 02/2001 so it didn't fit my car, it is too small.
It measures 6 4/3" wide by 5 1/2" long.

I would like to know the size of the M3 version to see if it would fit my car.

Nah, xi's have to take both covers off to change the oil.
