Defrost causes Idle to go all wonky...

Hey everyone hoping someone can help.. I did a search but couldn't locate anything.

When I turn on the rear defrost my RPM needle starts bouncing, a little at first and then up and down more and more and today it actually stalled. I've only had the car for a few weeks and haven't had to use the defrost much but from testing it doesn't always happen. I've been trying it at stop lights/signs.

Any ideas what's causing it and what I can do to fix it?

Thanks for the help!

I noticed my rpms dropping a bit too. I figured it was due to a higher electrical demand.

See if you can get your alternator load tested at a local alternator shop. The voltage regulator might go bad and the car does not keep up with the increased demand. Do your light dim or anything when you turn the defrost on?
