DIY - Polishing Glass Foglights

Found this on another forum. Used the same instructions the op of the thread used. My foglights looked just like the ops fogs. They look brand new now after sanding and using cerium polish.

i figure this is applicable to 3 series too since we all have glass fogs.

That is a GREAT DIY! Any idea where to get the cerium polish?

Regular Polish works just fine. I just finished doing this to mine two weeks ago with great results.

Cerium polish on Ebay. I've used regular polish on glass before - it doesn't cut as well as cerium polish.

On top of polishing - I've added lamin-x to the fogs hopefully minimizing any chips.

Good idea on the lamin-x.

They do a terrible job of clearing winter sand from the roads here and my fogs look like S**T! I am trying to balance my time of the polishing vs buying a new aftermarket pair (one is cracked) and doing this in the future!!??

^^ I haven't found aftermarket fogs that were made out of glass. I believe only OEMS are glass and I didn't want to shell out the money for them. Polishing was so easy. Give it a try

Might have to do that to my fogs, and headlights. Any idea if facelift coupe headlights and e39 headlights are glass or plastic?

I've seen many different DIYs for headlights and most came out with amazing results using Wetsanding. I guess they were plastic and not glass then?
