I would suspect that she would. That's pretty damn hot by combat zone standards.

Went to the range today for the second day in a row. What a difference not letting go of the trigger makes to accuracy.

Do you think letting go of the trigger would have caused all my shots to go high?

It's possible. It's not so much the actual act of letting go of the trigger, but rather, you are reducing the rearward pressure on the weapon. People tend to unintentionally relax their grip and control of a rifle when they release the trigger. That can allow the muzzle to tilt up. If it's a handgun, it could be that as well as not enough grip control (aka limp wristing).

How often should I cycle magazines to keep the springs optimum? I usually load the magazine fully and cycle the first into the chamber then load another for my "emergency" gun.
With 2 (-1 round) loaded magazines as backup. I usually swap with empty mags every couple of weeks...too often? What magazines recommended? I've tended to buy the magazine that matches the gun maker in the past.

![]() If you leave the magazines loaded or unloaded, the springs won't get unduly fatigued. People who shoot their guns wear their springs out pretty often. People who don't usually never need to replace their mag springs. And as for the magazines, ALWAYS buy manufacturer-produced magazines. The reliability of most firearms is contingent upon many factors, not the least of which is the requirement to only use factory magazines. Glock, HK, S&W, etc. They all only guarantee weapon performance with factory mags. The only exception is with 1911 mags, in which case Wilson Combat, Springfield Armory and STI mags seem to among the best ( I love my Wilsons).

If you're into 1911's, magazines are by far the single weakest link of the system. Check out mags from Checkmate, Chip Mckormick powermags, definitely the Wilson 47D's and the ones that I feel are the absolute tops are the Tripp Cobra mags. Don't get attached to magazines, use them and then ditch them. Each 1911 will be picky to which mag it prefers. My Springfield loves the Tripp, springfield oem, checkmate mags. It hates the Wilson 47d's. My other 1911's run like sewing machines with the wilsons. Just gotta find out which one your gun works the best with. 1911's are high maintenance compared to Glock/M&P/XD's. That comes to so many things ON TOP of magazines. A few things to make sure you've found YOUR 1911 to be comfortable:
-JHP designs (some wide lipped designs will get caught up on the feed ramp, ie HST's every now and then) -Internal parts such as after market extractors -Recoil springs - |

thanks for the suggestions on magazines...I can always use more.
Any benefit of the base pads? All my magazines don't have them. (OEM Springfield & OEM Kimber)

Base pads are nice for your palm so you don't get as sore when doing lots of mag changes, but unless you have an extended mag well, they're not necessary. You DO get more control with them though, IMO. If you have an extended mag well, then you obviously need them to properly seat the magazines.

Usually to do something like that, it has to be piston-driven, or needs an internal recoil spring. I am not familiar with that model, but if I took it apart and studied it for 3 seconds I could tell you exactly how it worked. My guess is that there is a short bolt carrier in there, with the recoil spring being mounted either directly behind the bolt, or more likely being mounted in the gas key raceway above the bolt carrier. Just looking at that design, and supposing that it actually worked, I would seriously question the reliability of it.
I'm not sure where the rifle you posted resides in terms of type of operating system, but the front sight post is a direct-impingement gas block design, which leads me to believe it's a DI AR, and most likely a custom build. I can't foresee that being a production weapon. I could be wrong, though. There are two major designs on the market for AR pistols that don't use receiver extension tubes. Olympic Arms OA93 utilizes a recoil spring mounted above the barrel, and a short bolt system. ![]() The Rock River Arms PDS Pistol is a piston-driven pistol that uses a purpose-built bolt group and a recoil spring above the barrel. This is a very similar system to the H&K G36 operating system.

Generally the gas tube with spring is mounted above instead of behind for folding stock AR-15 style weapons like the Kel-Tec SU-16 ( wiki article here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kel-Tec_SU-16 )
