Just thought that I would add that I did this mod today, so thank you for the write up.

I went to the store intending to buy the paint the OP recommended. However, they did not supply the paint. I ended up getting Dupli-Color BVW2039 Reflex Silver Met (LA7W) for original Volkswagen colors and the color came out *perfect* -- Sun, shade, doesn't matter
