I had a BMWCCA race at TWS this weekend. Pretty good weekend for me, considering the JP cars I was up against, I just needed more rain.

Rain Race 1: Qualified on pole by 9 seconds. Sean Garrity and I get forced off in T4 on the first lap, we get back on track almost at the very back of the pack. I work my way back up to first in JP and second overall, finishing .995 seconds behind the leader.


Australian Chase Race 2: Pretty boring.


Race 3: Some decent action, I finish 5th overall and 2nd in JP.

Watch at the 8:00 mark of the 4th race video, that pretty much sums up the weight/HP ratio difference of our cars. He's making about 12.4 lbs/hp and I'm making 14.4 lbs/HP. I figure if I did some motor work I'd be at 13.1 lbs/HP at the very best. I think with my car fully built like like his I'd be very competitive at tighter, more technical, tracks, but it couldn't win at VIR, TWS, etc...

His BL this weekend was a 1:52.9, which is stupid fast for a JP car, mine was a 1:56.3. Hankooks are supposed to be 1-1.5s quicker than my NT-01's, and I think I can get about 20 more HP out of the motor. Then I could do a better diff, better wing, BBK, and some other stuff. But even then, I don't think my car could do a 1:52.9 at TWS, no matter who's driving it.

You dont think we have the potential to make as much power? Is your car a 5spd or 6spd? I'm thinking with dinan throttle body full head back, retrofitting the bw e36 race box the bigger schrick 272 cams that we would have a pretty good chance. and our cars are a little more aerodynamic.

I think we can make right at 240whp at the very best, Sean's car makes 242whp. We'll have a slight torque advantage, but we're 160 lbs heavier(non ZHP).

Can you update to the 6spd gearbox so you could run taller gearing like a 3.94? Also when I rip mine apart I will get that ZHP weight issue straightened out because it is currently bs.

the mini was ripping it up too.... good driving sir.... i gota start to autox.. took a skip barber 3 day and i wanted to jump in... i only got my big toe wet lol

I'm not sure on the rules about the gearboxes, I'd assume it's legal. I'm not sure it'd be much of an advantage though.

Just checked the rule book, you have to run the same transmission that is in your appropriate year and model. That stinks although I'm not sure if it will benefit me or not. Maybe thats there way of tacking the zhp for the extra weight.
