haha yeah, seriously^. I really wish I had a nice camera though, with a nice lens that could zoom in really far.
Here's the start of the race

I had a blast too! Here are a few more pics. Even with my 200mm 2.8 zoom I had trouble getting up close and personal. Was also hard to get tack sharp images while panning with slower shutter speeds.

I've gotta Nikon D90. The lens is a 70-200 f2.8. Still though, my pics were blurry compared to the pros, plus they got all the cherry spots right next to the track . I had to stand on my tippy toes just to get over the chain link fence for a good shot.had a blast though . will be going again. |

Question for you guys. I heard that these race cars, the M3 for example, really holds very little in common with the street version aside from the general body shape. It has a different engine, a tube chassis, trans axle drive train, etc. Does anyone know the extent of the similarities or differences?

I believe you may be correct, except the engines are BMW, I am not positive about the ALMS cars. I was at Turner Motorsport last year on a tour, and its interesting, the Continental Tire GS and ST cars are mostly stock(ish) with modifications. The Rolex GT car (M6)that they were in the process of building at the time, is a tube frame, and other than the engine, and certain things like lights its pretty much all fabricated. Actually I believe all of the Rolex GT cars are tube frame except for the porsches, which will be that way in upcoming years.

A great example is the GT1 Corvette C6R. A lot of technology was taken off that racecar, and put into the more recent C6 models, as well as a lot of the ZR1s development. Corvette Racing is GMs marketing tool |
