my gf didn't know, but who cares, she loves the car because it's a pleasure to drive, not because it's a
status symbol! I don't think one needs to know the history of brand to appreciate the car. although I had a chance as a kid to ride with my dad in an m3 and liked bmw ever since, I did consider it more of a status symbol for many years and wasn't even looking to buy one. that was until friend of mine bough e46 and gave me a ride, in an instant I knew that was the car I wanted. did I know much about it? no, but I always loved to drive and have fun doing it so e46 perfectly fit the bill as a car that is very fun to drive! do I care about what roundel represents? hell no, I just love the car and that's it, there is nothing snobbish about it!
and let's face it, only idiot can drive 10 years old 10k car and think he's the s**t!

My friends dad asked me when I first got my car do you know what BMW stands for? Of course I quickly reply "Bayerische Motoren Werke." He laughed and said no, "Breaks My Wallet."

Does not matter, my wife is not a car expert. She just knows what she likes in cars. Not like if my wife knows what BMW stands for.....I get the special prize........LOL.

LOL....if you are not impressed your wife or SO does not know what BMW stands for.....you can always do something a bit funnier.

Have her bend over and spell RUN 5 times fast......but you are not going to win any points for that either.

I think BMW definitely stands for 'Break My Wallet'. Cos in Malaysian language its 'Banyak Makan Wang' which means 'Eat lots of Money'.
