Hi all -ive had a door membrane replaced by myself on the passenger front some time ago which cured that problem, the thing is im now getting a wet patch just in front of the accelerator pedal, which to me is too localised for it to be running over the sill(which feels dry)-any thoughts?-e46 2000 318i saloon-thanx

well...

... recently, I replaced the cowl/windshield gasket piece... it's a plastic strip running across at the bottom of the windscreen.. wipers are sticking up thru it.
Mine was 10 years old and age-related cracks were appearing in it. Under it, it is held down by seven? push-lock pins with gaskets to keep water out. Also, the piece has a long strip of sealing material under it to keep stuff coming up from below.
Is it possible water could be entering there? One purpose is to keep water from creeping up/being forced up by wind etc. and under the front edge of the windscreen. The seven fasteners in the body may be drilled all the way through and could potentially leak tho I haven't ever read of such.

In any case, if you look under there (as well as everywhere else), to get it off you may need a small two-arm puller to get the wiper arms off. (Retorque to about 22-23 ft.lbs.) The actual part cost about 70 dollars. I don't think it will break coming off... maybe able to re-use.

Do you drive thru a lot of rain or deep puddles? The steering column has to penetrate the firewall as does a lot of wiring... the brake booster area penetrates also but that is quite high up... how is the cabin filter area? There are drain holes under the filter... Aha! How are the sunroof drains? That might be it!

That was me. I'd just left a pub and couldn't find a loo anywhere.

I wouldn't look in the glove box if I were you.

I have a similar issue. My puddle seems to be forming in the passenger side foot well. I'm thinking that the condensation drain from the A/C rad in the dash is leaking a little bit. I have not checked it yet but its a good place to start.
