Anybody in this area tried the Huper Optik tint? I don't like the look of tint, but they make a 70% that still cuts down significantly on heat and UV. Wondering if anybody has done it and if it is polarized sunglasses compatible (unlike whatever tint BMW put on the e39)

Went to the Supra meet...checked their sh1t out. Saw some really awesome cars. Didn't know the older supras were rear engine built. Also everyone there had serious engine work even the lexus sc400's that showed up. 4 newer celicas showed up, all had race setups. Sparco seats, roll cages, CF hoods with scoops, boosted. Nothing there pushed over 800hp tho except a drag toyota 4runner, I got word from HolmeSIR that he's running the Lexus motor supercharged.

Good info, I need to get mine done since I will likely be parking outside more often at the new house. I don't want anything too dark though, just something to cut down on heat/UV to protect the interior.

Did they throw a number at you to get Huper put in?

Oh, my RTAB tool is up for sale for anyone local, $85. I don't see the need for it anytime soon again.

I've had huper optik on my 135i since right after I bought it in '08. I also had the same place put it on my '00 S4. I like it because it's legal but blocks a ton more of the sun's energy than standard style limo tint so your interior doesn't wear out as fast.

This is from '08, right after it was installed. This is legal. It doesn't look this light in person.

I think this is the only pic I have of the S4 with the huper tint. It had limo tint when I bought it.

I drove to richmond to have it installed. I forget the name of the shop but they're good. I believe it was mechanicsville or something.

See, I actually want it to look like there is no tint, I just want it to for the heat/to save the interior from UV.
Do you own a pair of polarized sunglasses and if so does it give you that cross-hatched pattern some tint gives when you look at it while wearing polarized sunglasses?

Well i know for a fact you can scratch tint easily with anything with a pointed tip. Kids don't understand, so they'll play with the window not knowing it's scratching the tint on the window. You have to be careful and not use certain cleaners because the tint will react oddly to it. You have to keep your tint fairly clean; i've seen tint on people's cars and it looks like they played a game of connect the dots or etch a sketch on the window.

Most importantly...use a good quality tint, and it will not fade to purple eventually.
