Oh, I see what you were saying. I thought you were saying C3XX vs 323 is equal, not C3XX vs 323 = BMW wasted (I thought maybe wasted all day every day is some young-person slang for something).

C300 has 228hp, but it weighs over 3500lbs and takes more than 7 seconds to hit 60, which IIRC makes it the equal of the 323, or do I not RC about the 323 being just over 7 seconds to 60?

Yeah the 300 benz will waste the lil bimmer all day. worse if its a 350.
323 is still over 3000 lbs, not as much as the benz, but considering its torque and power deficit, it doesnt matter.

Is it just me, or does the e36 look much more at home in CSL kit than the e46 does?
I wish some organization would bring back loose-regulation racing though. I guess Grand-Am an the like are somewhat like that, but even they regulate too much.

dont really see anything special about the E36 in the looks department there.

i was thinking the same thing too, how cool it would be to have a BMW cup here, with something more than E30s... like a M3 cup, where any generation could run, and rules were ste to handicap the faster ones and keep it even... then the real arguments about whats the best M3 would go on constantly.

VW has a diesel jetta cup tho, that looks fun as hell.

See, we're at a bit of a disagreement. I would want no handicapping...whatsoever. So the e30 could have a 265hp Korman 2.5liter in it...or heck run boost on it if they thought they could make it last the race. I want racing like in the old days, where you were limited pretty much only by your imagination, and would get wacky things like Charparrals with sucker fans powered by a snowmobile engine on them, or a Porsche 917/30. I want a car with a massive heavy engine burning everybody else out of the corner, only to have everybody back on its bumper as soon as the turn comes up, and just see who can come up with the best mix.

yeah and then a stripped out E92 M3 w/ 420+ hp, would prolly still smoke it every time they hit any kind of straight as the E30 would prolly have traction issue as the power went over 300hp...
then what would be the cost of such a E30 or E36.. it wouldnt be fair, it wouldnt be cheap, and it wouldnt last more than 2 seasons.. no championship will last if its not some sort of fair competitiveness., especially at the consumer level.

that would defeat the purpose of a M3 cup if no E30 has a chance of winning wouldnt it...

Youd have to make some kind of stipulation to keep the power to weights close.

E30-195.220hp/2800lbs = 14.3/12.7 lbs/hp

E36-240.282.316hp/3200lbs = 13.3/11.3/10.1 lbs/hp

E46-330.360hp/3400lbs = 10.3/9.4 lbs/hp

E92-420hp/3700lbs = 8.8 lbs/hp

fukit, spice it up, make it a M cup. Allow M5s, and M6s...
no boosted motors allowed. any engine swap as long as its a M motor...
So u wanna stuff a V10 in a E30, fine, but make sure u dont go over the power to weight bracket, or u will run with lead ballast.

i think 10lbs/hp is a nice limit...M5s and M6s should be able to make that too with some work.
No nos, no boost, no race fuel, no aftermarket ECUs. Only M motor swaps allowed, but must use ECU from donor car.
No aftermarket brake calipers, no active suspension.

i think it would work pretty well.

Hey, you're the one who brought up the M cup. I just want racing madness. It can burn methanol and have 30psi of boost for all I care, just make it last the full race, including the annual 24 hour race.

Ok the chick in the C300...I saw her again at the Texaco on South Military Highway. She's got the C300 3.0L, AMG Sport Package, Supercharged at 14lbs. (the chick claims). She says shes got the kleeman headers with meisterchaft catback system. (sounded legit). And also...she's single .

I found that out by her attitude and she said she hangs out at The Edge and Peabody's in Virginia Beach, I'm not too familiar with those clubs.

If she's rocking a meisterschaft exhaust she's got a sugar daddy somewhere. Nobody who has to work for their money would blow it like that.
Also ask her how the unlined Alusil is hanging in there after 5 years on 14psi lol.

Yeah, I brought up a simple grass roots model based cup that would be fair, affordable and competitive. Not some open class bs. Todays economy doesn't suffer well to expensive race series.

NASCAR is expensive and it works. You just need to find a way to market it.
